Black Rose Steel and Trading (Black Rose) was founded by Ann Hacker in 1990 to fill
an industry need for low priced surplus steel, mill overruns and seconds in the
Southern United States. From humble beginnings in the Hacker family home, the company
has steadily grown its inventory level, supply capability and clientele through
firm commitments to safely serving customers with integrity, quality and economy.
Ms. Hacker, a St. Louis native, relocated to Texas in 1980 where she soon found
herself working for a large steel supply company. Quickly Ann moved into management
and subsequently served successfully for 10 years working for several local and
national steel companies.

In 1990 she decided to venture out on her own and founded Black Rose Steel and Trading.
Ann presently serves as president and principal operator at Black Rose. She is credited
with coining the term “brown and straight” as a complimentary term for surplus steel.
Ann owes her success in part to many of the extraordinary American steel industry
legends she formed bonds with over her 20 plus years in the steel business
Black Rose offers this invitation. If there is anything you need, please ask. We
will go out of our way to accommodate your steel supply request.

We carry a large inventory of wide flange beams, small and large plate “gauge” up
to 8”, angle, channel, square and rectangular tubing, round bar and rebar.
If we don’t have it, it is likely we can tap our vast network of surplus suppliers
to find it on very short notice and up to 60% off.
